Opening of the Bergen Toll Ring

The Bergen Toll Ring was opened on 2 January 1986. Prior to commissioning, B&T took part in the planning of the Toll Ring, and has also been its operator since the start. The project was the first toll ring built in Norway and the country’s largest toll road system. From the very first day, the Toll Ring was a globally pioneering project in terms of its toll collection system. Trials were conducted as early as 1986 with automated registration of vehicles in designated card lanes, and the foundation for future collection technology was well on the way to being established.
