Bro- og Tunnelselskapet as operator and centre of expertise

In 1997, B&T formed a new strategy. Following the Norwegian government’s introduction throughout the 1990s of ever stricter regulations for toll collection and toll projects, B&T’s management and board of directors deemed it necessary to mark out a new course and direction for the future business. The company chose to focus on further developing its core activity, including planning, development and operation of payment systems for road users.

In 1997 the company began developing an electronic payment system which now dominates the Norwegian toll market.
